Bought my HP Pavillion desktop from Best Buy online in April of 2009; within nine months and numerous crashes, I was unable to even reinstall my Windows 7 o/s ("drivers not detected" error). HP sent me a new harddrive with installation instructions, and also sold me a two year warranty extension for $197. Got it up and running.
Fast forward to Feb, 2011. Again, numerous crashes and another "no drivers detected" message. After nearly an hour with tech support, I was disconnected. After a second call, the tech said that my 2 year warranty was from the MANUFACTURE date of the computer, NOT purchase date, and was expired. He was willing to sell me a new computer...told me that BB only sells refurbed, "inferior" HP's (it came new in box). Furthermore, he woulkd not transfer my call to a supervisor. I read him the order number and purchase date of my extended 2 yr warranty; he still insisted it was expired.
I took my HP to my local Best Buy, they looked up my original purchase date AND my extended man. warranty. They are sending it to HP for warranty repair. Geek Squad is awesome. I will never, ever purchase another HP product.
