SC542 is a fuser error. It can be caused by something as simple as a power outage or a dirty thermistor, but it can also be indicative of a major problem inside the machine, such as a bad fuser lamp, faulty wiring, or another fuser issue. It's best to have a Ricoh-certified technician reset the error and inspect the machine to make sure there isn't a serious problem that needs to be addressed.
