What's Causing Cpu To Heat?

Just lately, when I've had my Sony PCV-RS520 on for about 5 minutes, it gets hot in the back of the CPU. It's the vented area at the top of the back of the CPU where the power sourse plugs in.  I thought maybe it just might need a good cleaning, so that's what I did (with several cans of air), but it didn't help.  I'm only using my computer now for about 5 minutes at a time when I really need it because I'm afraid of it crashing or damaging it.  Do you have any ideas what is causing this so I can fix it?  Thank you in advance for any help.
