Request Guidance With Troubleshooting
DVD composition video picture plays one second, then goes blank.

While I haven't been able to solve this problem - yet - it seems to be a fairly common issue when the video signal is delivered to this particular TV via HDMI. Apparently the video signal is susceptible to power fluctuations (such as when major appliances turn on/off) and this TV is a bit finicky when it comes to signal quality.
One suggested solution has been to connect the DVD player using something other than an HDMI cable, but I'm not interested in doing that. Another possible solution would be to plug the DVD player and/or TV into an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to "clean up" the power source.
We already have everything plugged into a surge protector, but I'll probably try a low-end UPS (like this one or this one or this one) before trying anything else.
I guess a third possibility would be to try a different HDMI cable, though I'm not sure that would make a difference as the problem appears to be fairly widespread and not associated with a specific type/brand of cable.
