Does A Xerox M118i Scanner Driver Exist, And Is It Available For Download?
I have purchased the current versions of Xerox "collaborative partner" NUANCE applications (PaperPort 14 and OmniPage 18) yet the "Scan Wizard" for each application FAILS to detect my Xerox M118i multifunction printer/scanner. According to tech. support at NUANCE, I need a Xerox scanner driver. Scanner Driver is NOT mentioned in product documentation for the M118i, nor availalbe on the driver/downlaod page at Xerox. HELP!!!

No scanner driver. Assuming a small setup of a main office PC running XP Pro SP3 and a M118i, with a simple requirement to make digital copies, then the workaround is to install a virtual SMTP server on the main PC. With XP Pro this can be done by enabling IIS (needs XP CD). In IIS Manager, right-click the SMTP server and select properties. Make sure both connection and relay restriction settings allow access from the local IP address of the M118i. Authentification and file size limits should be disabled.
Enter the IP address of the main PC into the M118i Properties/Email Settings as the address of the SMTP server. Scanned email will then go to the main PC virtual SMTP server running on IIS. It can't go any further without IIS SMTP forwarding settings. Mail will accumulate in the c:\inetpub\mailroot\queue folder. Right-click files and select to open in Outlook Express to view digital-scan attachment.
