I Get Horizontals Line Registers When I Shoot In Normal No Zoom. Visible In Both

i get horizontal lines when i shoot with my CoolPix 8700 in normal no zoom. but when I zoomed it this does not happen. what could be wrong with my camera? i was thinking the battery since the battery is kinda old and esily drops even at full charge. could this be the problem? or a sensor imaging issue?
