No. What you are calling a cable is in reality a charger. Whether it is a car adapter or wall adapter, what it is initally doing is charging your battery. When you plug one or the other in, you can use it after a few seconds because the power is going to the battery then to your unit. Without the battery installed, it cannot pass through.
