Shutting Down

My computer will stay on all day long if I am working on it. As soon as it sits idle for 10 or more minutes it shuts off completely. What is causing this?

You didn't mention the version of Windows you are using.

Assuming your using XP, right click the desktop, select Properties to load the display properties dialog.  Select the Screen Saver tab, click on Power near the bottom.

Make sure that the settings are correct.  This where the power saver settings are set.  If they have been set very low the PC can shut off too soon.

Also check the Windows system event logs to see if there is anything related to system shutdowns.  The event logs are in the Administrative Tools in Control Panel under Performance and Maintenance.
