The back of Sony TV melted, more than half of it.
This is a known problem for their 40" TVS where the power supply melts the plastic on the back. In fact 11 of their TVs caught on fire due to this problem.
My TV is a 46" but it clearly had the same problem. Sony sent a 3rd party technician to look at it and, without telling me anything, he reported back to Sony that the TV was mounted near a wall heater vent and that the vent melted the plastic. The TV was actually only recently put up by that heater vent. It was melted prior to that at my old house, and I had informed the technician of that. Regardless, a twelve year old could tell you that a heater vent two feet away didn't melt more than half of the TV back. In fact a heater vent 3 INCHES away could not do that kind of damage. We're talking about a normal house heater vent, where the air temp is probably no greater than 95 degrees.
Sony refuses to do anything. I hate them so much right now that I hope Samsung and Toshiba put them out of business ASAP.
