A workhorse.
I bought my Canon Mx-850 to replace my little Pixma-6000 which I loved! Strictly because they used the same ink tanks (there are five) whenI had a totally new non-returnable box with a Pixma that wasn't printing and I couldn't repair it. Anyway, I wanted multi-function with an auto feed scanner and couldn't afford new, so purchased online via auction, perhaps six years ago. Luckily it survived my WIN 8 and 8.1 upgrades. I also have a Canon MP500 which doesn't support this OS.This printer has been a workhorse and done everything I needed. I have even carried it to my Alumni Band rehearsals to copy or print needed parts from our custom arrangements. It's heavy, but it traveled.
I do wish it had a sleep feature in the maintenance settings, as my -6000 had. I think it passes ink to turn on/shut down, so I now leave it on 24/7. So my lower review of Cost Effective.
I'm now dealing with needing to clean the ink overflow pad, so if it doesn't survive, I'll be getting a new printer.

Great Prints!
This printer gives good quality of prints.However, printing is usually slow. It waits almost a minute before performing the print jobs.
It consumes too much ink too...
