Tb22 Ec Wont Start

Have a brand new TB22 EC. Can't start it manually so went and bought the electric starter (49M2027P966). Still won't start and makes a grinding noise as if it's not completely engaged...ie, shaft is slipping? But its brand new!!

Please see http://www.repairclinic.com/RepairHelp/How-To-Fix-A-String-Trimmer/155---/String-trimmer-won-t-start. (You probably know that if as you say your product is "brand new," you can almost certainly return it to the seller or if not use the manufacturer's warranty for repair or replacement.)
