A505-s6992/bios 1.60: Cpu Upgrade To An Intel Core2 Duo P9700. No Power On. Help
I am upgrading from the Toshiba default Intel Core2 Duo P7400 cpu to an Intel Core2 Dup P9700 (AW80576SH0726MG) cpu. Used the same InsydeH20 Bios 1.60: it will not power on. All internet sites to include Intel says that it should work. My motherboard PN: 1310A2303202 (GM45) lists it as compatible.Only thing that I haven't done is upgrade the InsydeH20 Bios to 1.80. If it has the same results, what could be the problem? Bios not compatible? Is there a way to install a new/different Bios that is? (modded?)Please help!-Frustrated

You CANNOT upgrade the CPU in a laptop. The laptop is most likely refusing to accept the new CPU. All laptops are designed with a specific CPU in mind so upgrading it can cause issues especially when it comes to cooling. Keeping that in mind, the manufacturer most likely locked the motherboard to the original model CPU so that this can't happen.
