These units arrive with a power saving mode switched on which will put the unit in sleep mode in certain situations. The message Er P2 ON appears briefly if you switch the unit off and on again and in my case I couldn't remove the CD as the tray wouldn't open. I turned the machine off overnight and was able to get the CD out the following day. You can turn OFF the power saving mode (ErP) by following instructions on one of the many pieces of paper in the box ( Not in the instruction book but a separate single sheet folded in half like a leaflet). Basically, to turn ErP OFF you switch the machine on , switch to CD and put a disc in the player. Don't play it but point the remote to the display and press firstly the track increment button, followed by the tuning down arrow and then the tuning up arrow. You will then see a message saying Er P2 OFF. Hope this will be helpful to anyone else who has this problem
