I Have A Sony 60' Hi-scan Drc Projection After 4 Hours I Get A Quick Flash
of a yellow/green hue then at 6 hours the screen turns black..not losing sound...it just flashes black just bought this used as i am on disibility...looks l,ike i got screwed :(

This set is a rear projection CRT (three picture tubes, a red, green and blue). If one of these tubes have a failure then the picture will show a tint change, and when the set detects the difference in the current draw to the tubes, it blanks the picture tubes and the indicator will blink as it attempts to balance the tube outputs. This is what happens when you first turn it on, if the time needed to show a picture is delayed, then there is evidence that the tubes are maybe getting to the end of their life.
A technician might be able to readjust the outputs and might be able to extend the life, but this is usually a short time, and might not be worth the monies you will pay. You could pay to have the three tubes replaced, but this is a cost that few will bear (over $600), but you will end up with a set that will last the 7 years again (normal life expectancy)
