Sloppy Print

print has areas of light print and back side has toner smuges. Is my drum going?

Hello. I am an Oki Data helpdesk technician from Oki Data America's. This issue could be caused by the drum. There are a few steps you can try that may resolve this issue. First, toner may have spilled into the printer. Remove both the image drum and toner as one unit and place it to the side. Take a vacuum cleaner and use the hose with a brush attachment and vacuum inside of the printer. This may resolve the toner on the back side of the paper.

Next, locate the LED head array. This is the thin black bar that hangs across the width of the upper cover. Take an alcohol pad or rubbing alcohol and clean the shinny strip going across the LED head. Allow a minute to drum. Lastly, before installing the drum, shake it over a trash can from side to side for approx 10-15 seconds then install it. Print a few pages out to check for improvement. If there is no improvement, the image drum may need to be replaced.
