my c2200 treadmill speeds up randomly and sometimes smells hot

Why does my treadmill smell like it's burning?
Common causes of a burning smell from a treadmill include friction between the deck and back or a short in the wiring, electronics, or motor. These problems could potentially cause a fire, making immediate treadmill repair essential.
Why does my treadmill randomly speed up?
The most likely cause for the motor to speed up and slow down is a dry or worn walking belt or walking board. Lift the walking belt and feel underneath for worn spots on the board. If there are no worn spots you can lubricate the belt and board with part number 134591 belt lubricant from Sears.
