How To Re-open Staple Box When New Cartidge Was Put In Backward?

I replaced the staples in our Konica Bizhub C654 printer. It worked ok for a day and now I am getting empty/replace staples message on screen. I think maybe I put the in backward. The arrows are pointing up like they should be, but maybe the sleeve is in backwards and reads empty? Not sure. I can not get the staple box to open and change the sleeve of staples around. I push on the 2 sides "push buttons", but it won't budge. I don't want to pull or pry too hard to break the box itself. What can I do????? Right now we are not using the staple function, just to get our print jobs done.
