Dark Line Down Copy
On the copies that are being produced there is a dark line down the page. This occurs when the original is put thru the automatic feed. If the copy is made from laying original on glass the line does not appear on the page. Can you tell me what this may be caused from and how to correct it so that the copies do not have that line.

Hello, this problem is typically caused by dirt, Wite-Out, or another substance on the slit glass -- the small strip of glass located next to the large platen glass when you lift up the document feeder. This thin strip of glass is what is used to scan pages that come through the document feeder, so dirt or debris on this glass will result in lines on your copies.
Wipe the glass with a lint-free cloth or rag. If the line does not go away, clean the glass gently with a damp cloth or with alcohol.
