Bad Volume Control Circuit... Or Other Problem?

Replaced my factory Nissan Frontier SE upgraded HU and front & Rear door speakers with a JVC AVX-820 and Polk Mobile monitors. Added an Infinity Bassklink and boosted the available gain to the door speakers with a refurbished Planet Audio BB 175.4B amp. All worked fine for about a month when tooling down the highway in heavy taffic and the system volume went wide open. About blew out the window and my eardrums. Couldn't seem to get the volume to reset (a push button and hold volume control) so tried turning the unit off. No luck. I finally held in the reset button with a paperclip until the unit down powered. Scraped myself off of the ceiling and slowly powered everything up again carefully, but the volume control just went from 2 to 10 again. Wiring configuration and grounding external to the HU looks right. What might be up? Bleed'in ears in Wichita

Sounds like a logic problem. Could be static damage on the circuit board or some other defect.

I recommend a trip to a service shop.
