One option is to install the new drive as a slave inside the case. Obtain partitioning software and copying software to format your new hard drive. Then when the drive is visible use the partitioning software to clone your old drive to the new. You then move the new drive into the primary drive position removing your old drive. You need to make sure the new cloned drive is bootable. Do an internet search and there should be free apps available. Partition magic is one that may have a free trial version for example.
