Hi kybill1956

I'm afraid there isn't any feature in the server to control the fan.
You might want to update the BIOS and BMC to the latest and see how it goes.

BIOS ver 1.2.0
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r900?driverId=8G9JG&osCode=WNET&fileId=3000130160&languageCode=en&categoryId=BI

BMC ver 2.50
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r900?driverId=TNK5X&osCode=WNET&fileId=3089953544&languageCode=en&categoryId=ES

Also is the server having any fault or error? Having some errors might caused the fan to spin up high too.

Hope this helps.
