Error 5100

I have a Canon MP450 Pixma, I have gotten the 5100 error message after I first printed the test page. I have tried all the fixes that were posted on the web, reset and start buttons and the steps that followed, checking to make sure the cartridges and carriage aren't blocked or have anything lodged in them, wiggling the cartridge holder and the ink docking thing to no avail. After I power on my machine it goes through the motions of start up. The display will read print or copy for a few seconds then the carriage goes back to the home position and the error message is displayed. Is there anything else I can try. Thank you

You may have an issue with your Carriage Home Position. Try cleaning the printers' carriage plastic strip that runs the length of the carriage with alcohol on a swab.
