Asus M3a78-em Battery Question
This is something I've never seen in my life I bought a asus m3a78-em motherboard for my kids first computer now this is the strange thing if I leave the CMOS battery in the computer won't post I pull the battery out it posts now for the weird part it keeps the time and date without the battery I'm stumped!!!!

To stop during the POST when the battery is fitted points to a faulty CMOS battery. Lithium batteries have a threshold level where they will work for a while OK and then they will collapse and it is possible it is shorting out. You need to fit a known good battery and try again. Page 1-24 of the user guide available here explains removing the battery and resetting the CMOS. You need to setup the configuration, time date, e.t.c or the unit may not be very happy and that could be your problem as you need to save the settings on exit to maintain them.

Hi,
Its vary rare to have batteries-- chances of manufacturing error or due to usage of batteries print enamel has gone away.
Its common- use paratonic cmos barratries.
