Dashboard Fitting For Fob Key

I have an Alpine dashboard fitting which is circular with two silver recessed pins, a circular hole and a red light indicator. Does anyone know what it's for? I have an Alpine fob that fits into it but nothing happens. The radio is also dead which may be a loose connection or a fuse that I'm going to check. Any help appreciated.
