Various reasons can limit the installation. However you do not state your O/S or how your network is configured so I have to make assumptions. Refering to the user guide I noticed it does not offer support for O/S's above XP. It may be you are on a later system. The unit itself offers a lan powered set-up or one using a power supply (supplied). If your router does not have lan power output then you need to use the power supply. You will need to be able to access the unit via an ethernet cable to configure the unit to your network. Until you can see the unit from a PC via ethernet it will be a difficult if not impossible to complete. You can obtain a user set-up guide from this link at www.manuals.lib..

If you still have difficulty please raise another question with as much information as to what you have attempted and what your network consists of. Then another help-owl may give you a solution.
