Why Is My Sony Dvp-c600d Dvd Player Freaking Out?

I went to place a dvd in my player. I pressed the open button and the drawer opened and then closed again immediately. I pressed the open button again and the same thing. The third time I pressed the open button the drawer opened about one third of the way and stopped. I could hear the machine trying to finish opening the drawer but it closed and tried to open again. With a DVD in the player it will close and scan the tray displaying "NO DISC". I opened the drawer again and it closed, scanned the tray and opened fully displaying the error code:  C:31:26 I have unplugged the machine waited about 20 seconds and plugged it back in. The code disappeared and the normal text was displayed. I pressed the play button and the same cycle of events started again. I have been unable to find anything regarding this particular error code online. Any assistance with this problem will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Larry
