Dp42849 42' Tv

the power light comes on,but there is no picture or sound[tv doesnot turn on].what could be the problem

It's the power board that is bad. I have the same issue. Problem is, there are no replacement boards available anymore and it's looking like they are not being manufactured. You could be lucky and it may just be a bad capacitor on on the board. There's a small panel on the back of the TV that has two screws right by where your inputs plug in. Take those screws out and slide the panel off. There should be two boards showing, one green and one yellowish. On the yellow board, look at all the capacitors (they look like small batteries) do the tops look puffed out on any of them or are they flat? If any are puffed out, you have a good chance of getting your tv fixed at a reasonable price. Hope your luck is better than mine!!
