My Sanyo Dp42849 42' Lcd Screen Is Black

I have been a radio technician for over thirty five years. I happened to come across this post. I presently own a Sanyo DP26640, with similar malfunctions. At one time, Sanyo manufactured good products. However, the company has changed and has used a weaker foundary to produce their circuit boards. To answer your question, the transformer has gone bad, possibly by the flyback leaking. If you heard a humming or buzzing prior to your picture 'going out', this is the cause. My Sanyo is now humming, a year and one week old. Sanyo will not honor the warranty. Purchased at Walmart also. This seems to be a problem of the leaking flyback, and Sanyo has known about this, but refused to post a technical service bulletin, for fear of losing money, by a 'recall'. I'm sorry this has happened to you, as it has happened to me also. Fortunately, I purchased on American Express, which backs up the warranty by an additional year. To have your problem repaired, it would be about $200.00. It really is not worth the cost to repair. Do not purchase Sanyo in the future. Sanyo has gone bad.
