How Do I Turn Off Write Protection?

According to the user manual (http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMCFH27_ADV.PDF) there is no "write-protect" but if the unit is not in "record mode" it won't record.  You need to touch the camera icon on the center right of the screen to switch modes.

Also if the memory card you use is an SD card it has a write protect switch.  You need to make sure the switch is set properly or the card will be read only.  The switch is typically a small white slide on the side.  Just switch it to the other position and try recording again.
