Time Frequently Changing

my time keeps changing it loses and sometimes gains time and in the process renders the anti virus out of date

This would happen if your on-board coin-sized battery is dead and your time is set to synchronise with the internet (while the wrong time zone is set). Click on the clock at the bottom right > click Change date & time settings > ... set your right time zone under Change Time Zone or go to the Internet Time tab > Change settings > un-check Synchronise with an internet time server > click Ok
