Driver(s) For My Printer
After a virus wiped out my hard drive, I wound up having no OS at all on my computer, so I had to start fresh with a new Windows 7 Full Premium Home edition. When I went to re-install my printer (I have the original installation disc) I was unable to install it because the driver(s) were out-dated. I know that Windows 7 has updated software already installed for the printer I have (HP DeskJet 882C color), but that refers to the printer being connected by a USB port. My printer is connected to the serial port at the back of my computer. Is there any download available to update the driver for a serial port connection? My printer is old, but it's still perfectly usable, and I'd really prefer not to have to go out and buy a new printer! I'm desperate! Any help would be appreciated!!

I think your best option will be to purchase a USB cable. When your printer was designed Windows 98 was the OS of choice. If you connect the printer via USB it is simple. If your PC does not have a USB port you can buy a Parallel to USB adapter. The printer does not have a serial port. The port on the back is a parallel which connects via a IEEE1284 parallel cable. This has a 25 pin connector at one end which does resemble a serial cable.
