Cannot Change Resolution On Monitor. Shows A Generic Monitor In The Control Pane

Hi there,

Have you got the driver installation disc for the monitor? If not, you can get them from the Dell support website. When you install the drivers your computer should recognise the monitor as a Dell S2340M and hopefully you'll be able to adjust the resolution properly.

Also, are you sure your graphics card will support the full resolution? I think it's only graphics cards that are quite a few years old now that won't, though and I've had plenty of trouble with resolution settings with Windows (if that's what you're using?)
