Is It Possible To Replace The Hard Drives?

I have a T105 with 2*250 SATA (Raid 1). I'm running ESXi on the server and I need more disk space. Is it possible to replace the existing hard drives with new? If yes, do I have to replace both at the same time?

The T105 is limited to two hard drives. Because of this limitation there is not a way of expanding the array from a RAID 1 to a RAID 5, by adding another drive and performing a reconfigure.

If you purchased two larger hard drives, and replaced them one at a time, allowing the mirror to rebuild before replacing the next drive. The RAID 1 would be the same size, and you would be left with unallocated space that would not be part of the array.

The recommended method here, is to first backup the server. Then replace both the hard drives at the same time. And then restore from your backup. It may seem like a lot of work, but it is going to be the most stable method in the end.
