Long lasting 1996 workhorse, though presently obsolete.
I purchased this new around 1996. Native drivers were available for Windows 95 and NT. Updated drivers were available for Windows 2000, but only compatibility drivers have been available since then (printing and TWAIN Scanning interface). TWAIN is a better (available) interface for more more modern operating systems then the native Windows Imaging Interface. This devise gave perfectly reliable service until around 2007, when the mechanical feeder for scanner broke, never to be repaired, but the rest of the device (fax, flatbed scanner, printer) has continued to work admirably to the present time (2015).While there are certainly smaller, cheaper and more compatible devices available this now, this very early example of the MFC line was built to last has served admirably. Be careful to use only rated weights of paper stock in the automatic feeder. Lighter weight paper is now commonly in use and the paper feed has a tendency to jam with the lighter stocks as the device ages. Use the manual bypass to print on nonstock weights.
