Why Does My New Range Trip The Breaker?

My new Whirlpool range GfE471LVQ was delivered today and when plugged in it tripped the breaker.  Tried a new cord and the same result.  Plugged the old stove, a 10 yr old Amana w/convection oven with display showing Code FO, and it did not trip the breaker with the burners on and the oven starting to warm up.  That oven is being replaced because the adapter board failed and cannot be replaced.  The new stove was returned and new one will be delivered.  The current stove in on its own 40 amp breaker.  Before new stove is delivered I want consider all possible causes for the 1st new stove not to work.  Thanks

You said the old oven had "burners". Sounds like a 120V appliance. Your new stove is 240V. Electrical modification required. You need an electrician to check your connections (breaker, wires, receptacle) to be sure.

May be bad 240 receptacle or bad breaker.
