Need To Format Wd500h1cs-00
My backup drive has not worked in a long time and I'm thinking maybe it has to do with when I upgraded my operating system to Windows 7 from Vista. I never used the backup software, I just copied the files directly. Anyway, I get a message from Windows to format it and I let it, but it errors out. I cannot see any files on it. I upgraded the Windows 7 drivers, and still no luck. I changed the default FAT32 to NTFS and still nothing. Has the drive gone bad?

This page has the latest official drivers for your drive and system. You may have lost your drivers when you upgraded. Thats happened to me with periphreals when ive done clean installs of my system.
Theres also diagnostic software that may not hurt to download and run. Its the western digital support page so anything on there will be legit.
