Turn On Tv Set, Tv Goes Into Standby, Standby Light Flashes
is there something I can do to fix this, ie replace the receiver box

the blinking indicators are trying to tell you what's wrong. look at them and count the blinks between the pauses. Here's a chart to identify the problem area (media box blink count and color is mentioned first, followed by the LCD display indicators):
