Speaker Jacks

I recently purchased a sony hdc-lx10000 unit. The speakers had wire ends only, no jacks to insert to speaker connections in unit. i need a way to hook up the speakers. Also when I turn the unit on, it cycles through its program and when I select tuner, it stops there then freezes. Is this because there are no speakers attached?
