Hi! I assume you are using the provided USB cable. Please try using other USB ports, preferrably USB 3.0 ports as they provide a higher amount of power. This is especially essential if your HDD is 500GB and above. USB 3.0 ports are usually marked with blue strips, but there are some which are not marked.
