Tv Power Board Problem - 2nd Time
1. LN40A550 TV has power board symtoms again. Had TV fixed for power board replacemnt via repair shop ~15 months ago, after original failed after ~18 months from new.
2. What is part number so I can fix this myself?
3. Very disappointed with this Power board issue. Has this model been recalled?

the problem is that the original power boards have inferior capacitors on them. I always repair the board and install higher voltage and quality capacitors. you sould take the back off and look at the capacitors and verify that they are the problem. you can buy replacements at Radio shack and places like that. You can look at my C/L ad and you can see the picture posted on the bottom for an example of what these capacitors look like: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/wan/2602233231.html
The capacitors look like cylinders with a flat top on the power board (where the AC power cord hooks to). The bad ones will have the top puffed up slightly. The values are printed on the side and are probably 1000 microfarad at 10VDC, replace them with same value at a higher voltage rating as long as it will fit it the same area on the board. you can replace them yourself or take the parts and the board to a shop and they can install them for about $25
