Is It Normal To Have Paint Leakage Behind Piston

I recently purchased a ryobi cordless paint sprayer model #P631K1 have run approx. 2 gal. of paint though it . Have seen paint leaking from behind piston and motor housing . Have tried paint thickness reduction or thinning of the paint but that seems to make it worse. What can I do to solve this problem of paint running from housing and cup?
