Ipod Will Charge But Won't Play On Docking Station

I have received the RCA rc60i clock radio/docking station for Christmas, unfortunately the only thing the radio will do when my ipod is docked is charge it. I try to play the music on it and it won't play sound. The volume is up, but the ipod light won't stay lit. I don't know what is wrong. It will play my sisters ipod touchn with no problems and we have the same ipod touch. Please help.

You may need a firmware update on your iPod. Check both side by side to see what version of IOS is on them.
