Power Problem, When I Press The On Bottom Nothing Happens.

How can I know what is the problem witht he power? I opened the power, but everything seems to be just fine. It stopped working after I dropted the power and dvd to the floor. I really do not want to take it to the authorized service because it will be more expensive than getting a new one. Thank you for any adviced.
