Hi....please Help! I Have A Question About A Lenovo B570. This Is My Mothers Lap

Hi....PLEASE HELP! I have a question about a Lenovo B570. This is my Mothers laptop. When it was purchased, she had a trial Norton antivirus, which has now expired (and she was not aware of it) She has viruses on her computer, and it will not allow us to do anything. It is asking for us to pay for the Norton to continue. We do not need Norton because my father paid to have virus software through Comcast (our cable company)...so that is what I want to install once we can get this to "work". The main problem is she cannot locate the disks that came with her computer when it was bought (in Dec 2011.i think) I guess my question is, without the software disks, can I do something without losing data...and then install the virus protection that my Father purchased????

First you need to uninstall Norton (Go to control panel, programs, uninstall a program, find Norton or Symantec on that list and uninstall)

And then install Avast Antivirus, it's free and trusted, you can get it from here: http://www.avast.com/en-in/free-antivirus-download Select the free version, it's good as all their paid versions.

Use it to scan your computer and remove any viruses

You can talk to Comcast support to get a download link for the antivirus program your father has paid for, download that, before installing uninstall avast as only one antivirus software should be running in a computer at a time.

If you can't locate that program, along with Avast, another excellent free option is Microsoft Security Essentials.
