Can't Burn Music, Or Play Cd's.

I can play DVD's just fine, but it won't allow me to play audio CD's, or burn music(that I downloaded from the web) onto a CDR. I've tried to burn music through several different programs, including Itunes. CDBurnerX, Nero, and others as well. Nothing seems to work. When I look in the device manager, everything seems to be working just fine.
