Lg Be06lu11 Blu Ray Burner Does Not Burn Blu Rays. It Does Burn Dvds And Cds.

I have an LG BE06LU11 blu ray burner. It burns CDs and DVDs OK but will not burn a blu ray disk. I have tried blu ray disks from two distinct manufacturers with the same results. I did not find a firmware update for this burner. Is there a solution to this problem? I am running Windows 7.

It sounds like the laser is dying out. Burning Blu-Rays is a lot harder on the laser than DVDs and CDs which is why you can burn those and not the Blu-Rays. Unfortunately there really isn't anything you can do other than buy a new burner.

I have the same burner. The reason that it will not burn Blu Rays is because it is not a blu ray burner. Below is the features listed on Amazon for this model.

It's a little confusing, but the last line is saying that it reads blu-ray, dvd and CD, and it writes DVD and CDs.
