How Can I Repair Kodak P880 Power Switch Problem?
Hi,
I have Kodak P880 it gave and still gives me good result, the only problem is while shooting the power goes on and off, quite often.
Is there any solution to it? Is there any Service Manual so that I can open it up and repair it (I used to work for SANYO service centre (for over 10 years), so am familiar with servicing of Consumer Electronic Goods).
I don't want to give it at any Service Centre, as I fear I may not get it back, even in its present condition!

The probem is caused by the microswitch underneath the powerswitch on top of the camera. You can search the Kodak Talk Forum at dpreview. URL: forums.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1011 for a possible solution.
A ("THE") solution in short: spray a de-oxidizer or WD40 underneath the powerswitch AFTER removing the battery. Spray it from the frontside were the powerled is. Wipe off the excessive cleaner and work the powerswitch a number of times. After a few minutes put the battery back in and switch the camera on. This method works most of the time.
I have 2 P880's and had to apply this to one of them. With succes. Maybe in time you'll have to repeat this treatment.

Hi, I'm a repair tech, I've repaired several P880s with the switch problem. Get yourself a small bottle of DeOxit Gold with the needle applicator tip. and apply a few drops around the switches edge and work the switch until the liquid makes its way into the switch contacts. It works like a charm. P.S. only use the DeOxit, It has special lubricants in it so the switch will not wear out. DeOxit is a the best contact cleaner on the planet.
