Monitor Goes Black After A Few Seconds.

Our HP Compaq L2105tm has been functioning perfectly for the last year.  Yesterday, it started having issues.  It seems as though the monitor is going to sleep, while we are using the computer.  But, the monitor light stays blue, as if it is "awake".  It does this within 5 seconds or less of turning the monitor on.  We can see a picture for a few seconds, and then the screen goes black (the monitor light stays blue and doens't turn orange).  We turn of the monitor and turn it back on, then we can see the picture for a few seconds and it does it all over again.  We've hooked it up to 2 computers and it does this on both.  When we hooked it up to the second, it stayed on for about 30 minutes and then started the issues again.  Any advice is appreciated.

Sounds like the monitor is dying.

The components in these are low end and die frequently.  If the power supply or video control board is overheating the monitor will stop working.  t might be defective transistors or capacitors, no way to really tell without a hands on check.

I recommend taking it in to a service shop.  Expect to be shelling out for a new monitor though.
