Dell Xps 730 H2c Liquid Cooled Computer

I am wondering if any one here owns a Dell Liqiud coold computer? I am having trouble with high temps while the cooling system is running and Dell says that they can not help me unless the computer crashes. Then they will just replace the cooling system.  I am getting temps up around 200 F where as 6 months ago I was running smooth at 95 F. I came here and downloaded the right manuel, seeing how I was giving the wrong one and that is useless as well. I really need some advice on how to trouble shoot this cooling system even if Dell will not honor their warrenty. Which I still have a year of.  Thanks in advanced of any help.

I have experience with liquid cooled PC's.  Mine at home is heavily liquid cooled, CPU, video card, disk drives and motherboard chip-set.

I've also worked on a few of the Alienware liquid cooled systems.

Things to check:

  1. Are the coolant levels full?  Make sure that the system is completely full.
  2. Is the pump running?  A failed pump will cause the system to overheat rapidly.
  3. Are any of the lines kinked or blocked?  Restricted flow will cause this.  Make sure all lines are open and none kinked or bent too tight.
  4. Are all fans working?  Make sure the radiator fans are running and running right.  Blow out any dust that has collected.
  5. Is the radiator clogged?  You might need to crack the cooling system open and blow out the radiator.  Stranger things have happened then finding gunk in the radiator that might have gotten in during production.
  6. Is the CPU block seated properly?  Has the block moved or loosened?  This will cause this issue.
  7. Are any of the water blocks clogged?  Again, this requires removing the colling parts to inspect them.

Note that removing the parts for inspection will void any remaining warranty you have.

Thats all I can think of.  These cooling systems are pretty simple mechanical systems when it comes right down to it.  Once the blocks are in place and nothing leaks there are only a few things that can go wrong.

I have the same XPS 730 H2C from Dell.  Dell was absolutely useless because my service agreement lapsed.  In mine there was a leak of coolant which left a white powder.  The CPU chiller was plugged as well as the reservoir/radiator.  I ended up replacing the CPU waterblock (you need a LGA 775 backplate) and went with an external reservoir/pump.

Unfortunately with the DELL kit you cannot refill or top off the hydraulics.  If there is air in you system you will eventually burn out your pump then you must go with a replacement.  Dell does not have replacements for the cooling system.  You could get very old waiting for their help.
