Refund For Return Of Receiver

I paid $300 plus $120 for two months required sercie fees a receiver that I purcheased while in the US. I was not able to get the receiver hooked up because when I got back to my country canada I found out I could not hook it up. Is there any chance of getting some of my money back if I return the receiver?
